Meet The Team: Sophie Acton

At Reason Global, we like to think of ourselves as more than just an insurance company. Our dedicated team of professionals is amongst the best in the moving industry. We could not deliver the first-rate service we do without their hard work and commitment.

To help you get to know our team better, we’ve produced a series of interviews where our staff chat about their role in the company and talk about what makes them tick.

In our latest team interview, we chat with Account Broker Sophie Acton.

Sophie works alongside Nicholas Marshall looking after the insurance cover for his Fine Art clients. Here Sophie tells us what she enjoys most about her role and why she loves being part of the Reason Global team…

When did you become part of the team here?

I have been with Reason Global for three years. I joined in November 2019.

When did you get into insurance?

I have worked in insurance for 15 years. I started as a personal lines broker before moving into claims which I did for 11 years before joining Reason Global as a broker.

What kind of activities does your job entail?

I am responsible for obtaining renewal terms for clients from existing insurers as well as carrying out market exercise to find the best alternatives. I also carry out any mid term adjustments or individual queries as they come in throughout the policy year. Over the last year or so I have also been involved in the marketing team, where we have been organizing our team videos and creating content for our website and social media platforms.

What do you like most about your role?

I really enjoy building up a good relationship with my clients; I have been working with most of my clients for 2/3 years now.

Is there a lot of work in the background that people may not know about?

Absolutely, as well and the broker and executive there are a lot of people that work hard to deliver the service the client expects; from accounts to the marine team.

What do you think makes Reason Global unique?

We are a relatively small and close knit company, with so many years of knowledge and experience in the industry.

What are your interests outside of work?

Being a mum takes up a lot of my time at the moment but I love going for long walks on the South Downs. I am very lucky to live within walking distance of the Downs so try and get out there as often as I can.

What are your favourite places in or around Brighton?

I really enjoy wandering through the Lanes with all the unique shops and independent cafes and restaurants. My current favourite place to eat is La Choza, a Mexican restaurant which does amazing tacos!

A lot of the people in our team are active with charities and different causes, have you been involved in any of these?

I have raised money for different charities in the past, I ran the Great South Run and the Brighton Half Marathon for Macmillan Cancer Research.

If you weren’t working in insurance, what other career would you like to have pursued?

I love cooking and baking. My partner and I would love to run a café or sandwich shop.
