Get Cyber Fit for 2025

Did you know that 50% of all UK businesses experienced a Cyber breach/attack in the last 12 months? *

Cyber breaches can cause significant disruption to your Business, which can take considerable time, expertise and money to resolve. Here are four ways of checking and improving your Cyber Security fitness:

The National Cyber Security Centre (www.ncsc.gov.uk) offers free advice and guidance covering a broad range of topics. This is available for all businesses from sole traders to large organisations. In addition, they offer a service for UK organisations performing a range of simple online checks to identify common vulnerabilities in your public-facing IT systems. All checks are remote, without the need to install software and uses the same kind of publicly available information as cyber criminals use to find easy targets.

Another excellent tool is Cyber Essentials, which represents the UK Government’s minimum baseline standard for cyber security for organisations of all sizes in the UK. The certification scheme, which is renewed annually, is aligned around five key technical controls designed to prevent the most common internet-based cyber security threats.

Cyber Essentials certification demonstrates that an organisation is protecting itself by implementing the most critical cyber security controls. A team of experts regularly review the scheme to ensure it stays effective in the ever-evolving threat landscape.

At the first level of Cyber Essentials, organisations assess themselves against the five key security controls and a qualified Assessor verifies the information provided.

All the self-assessment questions are available to download for free in advance. Once you have passed Cyber Essentials, you can apply for Cyber Essentials Plus, which is a hands-on audit of your systems.

Lastly, the most comprehensive route would be to engage the services of a cybersecurity expert. They can provide a fully managed service, which includes 24/7 breach detection, incident response, patching, penetration testing and security testing.

Your Reason Global Account executive can provide quotation for Cyber Insurance which protects you against loss of, or damage to, information from IT systems and networks.
