Moving & Relocation Organisations Offer Support During Covid-19 Pandemic

Like many other industries, moving and relocation businesses around the world have felt the impact of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the moving and relocation industry, in particular, the impact of the outbreak was felt from its very early stages, with lockdowns and travel restrictions preventing all but essential movement and bringing business to a standstill across large parts of the world, albeit restrictions vary across territories.

With networking events cancelled and postponed until late Autumn and into next year, major national and international industry organisations have taken steps to help their members and affiliates through this challenging period.

British Association of Removers (BAR)

To help and support UK Moving & Relocation businesses, the BAR has published a guide on COVID-19 News and Social Measures. The guide includes links to official guides from the UK Government and the Health Safety Executive for employers and businesses on operating and social distancing while the national lockdown measures are in place.

The International Association of Movers (IAM)

IAM has published a full page of Coronavirus Information & Resources tracking the COVID-19 impact on the international moving industry. The page is updated regularly with new information with a strong focus on the US state and government actions, public health updates and international travel and transportation.

During the month of April, they are also offering buy-one-get-one-free on any training program on the IAM Learning platform. The Liability, Transit Insurance & Claims Management course is also available free of charge to all IAM Member Companies thanks to Reason Global Sponsorship. Around 200 members have already enrolled and benefitted since going live.

New discussion forums allow IAM Members to post updates on status service availability, how they are pulling together to cope with the pandemic and sharing best practice and tips to ensure the safety of customers and employees.

FIDI Global Alliance

FIDI has rescheduled its 2020 conference in Osaka, Japan, to 2021. The event will now take place from Thursday 22 April to Sunday 25 April 2021.

COVID-19 Special Coverage page has been published covering the current situation and providing advice and resources for international moving and relocation companies.

The FIDI Academy training courses are all available free of charge to FIDI Affiliates until 30 April. The platform offers flexible, on-the-go remote training. Available 24hours a day so you can access the training modules whenever you have the time and in the setting that best suits your business needs.

We wish you all the best during this difficult time. If you have any specific concerns relating to your insurance policies, please see our guide on Coronavirus Essential Risk Management and Insurance Advice or speak with your broker.
