Reason Global’s in-house singer, Janet, is enjoying a busy run of performances as a regular member of the Brighton City Singers.
The Brighton City Singers is one of four community choirs led by the dynamic American composer MJ Paranzino. MJ is the Musical Director of the West London Choir, the South London Choir and the Hastings Town Singers. She’s also the Co-founder and Musical Director of Liberty Choir – a charity programme that takes singers into prisons to create choirs with inmates in a continuous programme of choral singing.
On Friday 1st November, all of MJs choirs came together at the Royal Festival Hall for a very special performance of well-known melodies from Brahms, Motown classics from Marvin Gaye, and hits from the Broadway musicals Hamilton and My Fair Lady. The concert marked the closing of an exhibition curated by the UK’s leading prison arts charity, Koestler Arts. Titled ‘Another Me’, the exhibition showcased over 150 artworks from those in UK prisons and other secure settings.
Janet is now busy rehearsing for her next performances, which include a Christmas concert in the impressive surroundings of the Victoria & Albert Museum on Saturday 7th December from 2–3pm, the St John’s Carol Service in Hove on Sunday 15th December at 4pm and charity carol singing at Brighton Station on Wednesday 4th and Tuesday 17th December from 5.30–6.30/7pm. All funds go to Liberty Choir.
