BAR Brighton 2023

The Reason Global team had a great time attending the British Association of Removers (BAR) conference held on our home turf of Brighton from 11-13 May.

The reason BAR chose Brighton as the location for hosting this year’s conference was particularly special – as it was to celebrate the centenary of the local removal firm and long-standing Reason Global client, GB Liners.

GB Liners was established in Brighton by Managing Director Robert Bartup’s grandfather in 1923, so to mark the occasion, Reason Global’s Sarah Young organised a specially crafted cake in the shape of a lorry adorned with the company’s logo in their signature colours, which was presented to Robert by Sophie Acton and Debbie Jackson during the Gala Dinner with Nicholas Marshall delivering a few words.

The BAR Brighton Conference featured informative business lessons from influential speakers and discussions on best practices in the removals and storage industry. Attendees also enjoyed various social events and activities such as Go Karting, Axe Throwing, and Clay Shooting. The Go Karting race was particularly thrilling, with Edward Kessell emerging the victor by a mere 0.018 seconds in a closely contested final.

For Jack Benton and Kaillie Aluko, the team’s newest members, this marked their first industry conference. They were both pleased to find the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming, allowing them to connect with clients and industry peers.

For Jack, who joined Reason Global in April, the conference was an excellent opportunity to learn more about the industry: “The Business sessions were very well run and very informative. I enjoyed speaking to a wide range of people in the industry who were able to better my understanding of the challenges and benefits of the industry.”

Kaillie appreciated the activities on the first day, describing them as “a great way to break the ice. I met some lovely people and had fun! I found the business talks interesting and learned much about the industry.” Kaillie and Jack expressed their excitement for future conferences and the chance to strengthen client relationships further.

Overall, the conference was well-organised, and it was great to reconnect with our industry colleagues and clients. Nicholas Marshall emphasised the importance of personal connections: “It was nice to be back in the “room” and connecting with many people that I have not seen in ages. Also, it was good for me personally to connect with clients that I do not deal with.”

Sarah Young commended the event for bringing together a passionate and friendly industry: “Another well-organised event bringing such an enthusiastic and friendly industry together. It was great to catch up with everyone, and I look forward to seeing everyone again soon.”

See you all in Glasgow next year!
